An early 19th century portrait of a bay hunter horse. Oil on panel. Probably English School. Unsigned.
The Bay horse is stood in a rural landscape with rolling hills to the background. The horse is in full saddlery and gazing out of the portrait. There is a small area of paint loss to one ear and some very small scratches in places but generally the work displays very well.
The work is housed in an attractive moulded maple frame which has some light and historic signs of wear to the extremities in areas.
