A superb bronze depicting cupid in thought by Felix Sanzel (French, 1829-1883). Signed to base, no. '9716' stamped to base.
The bronze is crisply cast and of a fantastic form. Cupid is looking down, presumably to humanity below, with his hand to his chin in thought and his bow held behind his back. The bronze has a red oxidisation throughout which gives the whole piece fantastic colour.
A really lovely piece.
