A delightful late 19th century Scottish folk art pine chest of 'wee' proportions.
The chest has a central brass plaque reading, 'William Hall's Wee Chest 1893'. A brass Celtic-style cross is nailed to each corner, and the lid opens to reveal a miniature candle box to the interior, the whole raised upon four feet.
There are signs of wear commensurate with age throughout but all joints and brass elements remain firmly affixed, and the wood has the most fantastic patina.
A charming little thing.
